Housing Units had completed the third expansion in a year of its Wickentree restaurant in less than a year. The expansion comes after the number of meals cooked and served on a weekly basis since January this year tripled.

“It has been the perfect storm of relatively good weather, new menu, returning customers and the biggest continual run on afternoon teas we’ve ever known,” said Nick Fox of Housing Units.

“But it looks like it’s just going to keep going: we’ve got around 400 Christmas lunches already booked – local businesses seem to be understandably cutting back on throwing Christmas parties, so we’ve been picking up ‘DIY’ company lunches by the sackload.

“While the restaurant is performing ahead of expectation across all the dining slots, but there’s no doubt that afternoon teas are the indulgence of the moment – we even came close to running out of crockery on one particularly busy day.”
