New and expectant first-time parents should go hands-on rather than online when it comes to selecting pushchairs and prams.
Staff at Housing Units’ Coo Chi Coo baby and nursery store say that online purchases of pushchairs can prove to be a big mistake – literally.
“Buying online, you get no sense of scale: some pushchairs and prams are huge, and simply won’t fit in some cars. On the other hand some look big, but prove to be too small for baby plus all the paraphernalia that goes along with moving round with a new arrival,” said Nick Fox of Housing Units.
“The only way is to get hands on and take advice from experts, and to make sure the pushchair of choice will do the job – and fit in the car.”
Specially-trained staff at Coo Chi Coo operate a car dealership-style aftersales service on prams and pushchairs bought from the store, encouraging customers to return with their prams for MOT inspections during the first three months of use.
“Prams and pushchairs get plenty of use, and parts do come loose from time to time. No matter what level of inspection we do at pre-delivery point, there’s no better test than putting a pushchair through its paces to show up any glitches,” said Nick Fox.
Coo Chi Coo, which is on Housing Units’ retail park in Failsworth, Manchester, has been re-launched with a completely new look and layout created by the store’s in-house design team.
